Laura Ratcliffe was born into a world of music, with deep roots in the bluegrass scene. Her father performed alongside the legendary Dolly Parton, while her mother was a talented folk songwriter who taught her and her sister the art of harmony from a young age. This musical upbringing led her to an exciting career, including performing on cruise ships and touring internationally. Together with her sister, she formed the folk duo Mia and the Moon, which gained recognition for their heartfelt performances, nominated for Best Folk Act at the 2017 Unsigned Music Awards (UMAs). With two studio albums recorded in Leicester and available on Spotify, the duo made an appearance on X Factor and toured with choirs and session musicians in Europe, UK and America. In 2013, Laura launched The Singers Club—a programme designed for adult aspiring singers to develop their technique and confidence. This initiative grew into a series of 10 themed workbooks, now CPD-accredited, offering valuable resources and certification for singing teachers with adult students. The programme emphasises student-led creative development, providing an alternative to formal exams while achieving life-long personal development in music. The Singers Club are committed to providing training, materials, and resources for teachers. Recent seminars have covered pop vocals, vocal effects, riffs & runs, and the business of building a private studio. While still performing live, Laura remains passionate about helping others find their unique voice in a supportive, encouraging environment. Outside of music, Laura enjoys agility training with her pointer, Forest. Currently competing at KC Grade 2, the duo thrives on the new challenge and fun of the sport. Her musical inspirations include the soulful sounds of Eva Cassidy, Sarah McLachlan, Norah Jones, and Joni Mitchell.
